Peter DykhuisPeter Dykhuis was born in London, Ontario. He graduated in 1978 with a BFA from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, then moved to Toronto, where he remained until relocating to Halifax in 1991. Dykhuis has exhibited throughout Canada, notably at YYZ and Mercer Union, Toronto; Plug In, Winnipeg, Manitoba; The Owens Gallery, Sackville, New Brunswick; and Eyelevel and Dalhousie Art Gallery, Halifax. He has also exhibited in the US and at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo in 1998. In 2001 he received the Juror’s Award in Encaustic Works ‘01 at the Muroff-Kotler Visual Art Gallery, Ulster County Community College, New York, and was also the 2003 winner for Eastern Canada in the New Canadian Painting Competition. Dykhuis will participate in various solo and group projects in 2006 and will also mount a mid-career overview exhibition at the Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery in early 2007. |
