Kathleen Tetlock & Joyan SaundersKathleen Tetlock (MFA, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design; BFA, University of British Columbia) has worked extensively on video projects with various community groups and activist organizations. She has also provided creative counsel and technical assistance to numerous artists in the production of their work. In 2003, Tetlock began producing video with Joyan Saunders (MFA, University of California, San Diego; BFA, University of Western Ontario). Saunders has a long history of working collaboratively with her significant other(s), without whom she would have done almost nothing at all. Push Push: Recalling U.S. Presidential Election ’00 is the progenitor of ongoing collaborative ventures between the two. The video combines CNN clips with 13 vignettes making serious fun of George W. Bush and his associates. Saunders performs as Bedja Inya, a faux newscaster who wears a see-through burqa because something has to be transparent in these tragically murky times. |
