Return to search results Prospect 11: Doug TaylorDoug Taylor, Demolition Derby No. 5 2002 oil on canvas, 91.44 x 120.98 cm, Courtesy of Secord Gallery Born in Sydney and now living in Halifax, CKDU broadcaster Doug Taylor attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design as a mature student, graduating in 1992. His source images are photographs of recreations such as country fairs, demolition derbies and Khyber Club performances. Taylor recreates these scenes in a painting style that borders on the caricatural, with mannerisms suggestive of the self-taught artist. This exhibition is part of the Prospect series, which introduces emerging Nova Scotian artists in a public art gallery context. OPENING RECEPTION jointly with Anna Torma: Needleworks, on Sunday 14 January, from 2 to 4 pm. The artist will be present.
