Return to search results Lunch MoneyLisa Baldissera. Snow 1997. VHS video (still). To demonstrate how artmaking counteracts the effects of privation, the Toronto-based curators Kim Fullerton and Cheryl Sourkes made an exhibition of works by young artists from Vancouver, Saskatoon, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax. They write: Lunch Money is a metaphor for conjuring something pleasurable out of conditions of the bare minimum. You only have enough money for lunch buy you don’t spend it on lunch. The art in Lunch Money provides ... an escape from austerity, depression, lack of money or opportunity. It is what you see on the wallpaper when dreaming with your eyes open... Exhibition Catalogue A 22-page illustrated catalogue, with an introduction by Kim Fullerton and Cheryl Sourkes, accompanied the exhibition. Exhibition Images Click on an image to enlarge it. |
