Joy Walker

was born in Montreal, Quebec. She studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design and completed a three-year artist’s residency at the Textile Studio at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto. Her work is held in several public and private collections, and she has received numerous grants and awards. Walker owns and operates WORK Textiles (since 1995), producing custom silkscreen-printed fabrics. Her fabrics have been sold in retail stores throughout Canada and the U.S. and have been featured in newspapers and periodicals. Most recently, Walker’s work appeared in Canadian Architect magazine 09/05, and Azure magazine 05/06. Joy Walker is currently teaching in the Textile Department at Sheridan College, Ontario. Her work will be included in a group exhibition at MKG127 Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, July 2007 and a solo show at Convenience Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, September 2007.
